With the state of the art NHS Blood and Transplant centre opening at Capitol Park in Barnsley next year, a careers event on Saturday 12 October has been arranged at the Digital Media Centre, County Way, in Barnsley from 10 am to 4 pm.
The event, hosted by NHSBT and supported by Barnsley Council, Jobcentre Plus and Barnsley College will provide information on the wide range of career opportunities including Healthcare Science and Support, Administration, Technology and Digital, as well as Transport and Facilities.
The event is also looking to attract students from any age as a chance to learn about the range of roles that the centre will host and how they can gain a pathway into a future career.
The new centre, located at Dodworth, by Junction 37 of the M1, will distribute blood products, deliver world-class laboratory services, as well as offer the opportunity to create new advanced cell therapies, supporting NHS patients across the North of England.
There will be plenty of parking, an on-site restaurant, indoor and outdoor seating areas, brand new training facilities plus a fresh, modern working environment when the work is complete in Summer 2020.
Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “We’re delighted to reach this advanced stage with NHSBT as they move closer to becoming operational at Capitol Park next year.
“We are working closely with the organisation, together with Jobcentre Plus and Barnsley College to support ways in which people in Barnsley can learn about the employment opportunities that will be available at this state of the art facility, as well as how we can support people to secure employment in the future.”
Chris Sims, who is leading the development for NHSBT says, “We’re very proud of our new centre which is going to provide colleagues with a great working environment. Barnsley will be a great place from which to deliver our life saving and life-enhancing services. For anyone interested in being part of the vital work we do, it will be a really exciting time to join NHSBT.”
