BARNSLEY’S PREMIER LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE
24,500 COPIES DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT BARNSLEY EACH MONTH
The Premier Lifestyle Magazine
With distribution to 24,500 households & businesses in the Barnsley area, Barnsley Today is an ‘iPad’ size glossy magazine that carries a mixture of local news and views, as well as regular features and editorials abouta whole manner of different topics and local businesses that you’d expect to see in a lifestyle magazine.
I’m extremely proud of the fact that all this is done with a small, but a very efficient team of hard working local individuals, myself included, who are all passionate about the Barnsley area that we live in. I’m confident that you’ll like our magazine so much that you’ll look forward to receiving your copy each month and that you’ll want to tell all your friends about it.
BARNSLEY TODAY MAGAZINE
Based in Hoyland, Barnsley Today is the Premier Lifestyle Magazine in Barnsley. The magazine is full of news, views, articles & features, as well as carrying information about what’s happening in and around the Barnsley area. I’m Peter Holmes – that’s me pictured on the left – and I’m the publisher of Barnsley Today. I’m proud to say that the magazine is produced from start to finish by a small, but very well organised and hard working team. First of all there’s myself, I also have an excellent graphic designer who works alongside me and contributes an enormous amount to the appearance and layout of the magazine. I also have an outstanding team of excellent local regular editorial contributors and, last but not least, a large team of conscientious and very hard working distributors – without whom none of this would be possible.
Our distribution team hand deliver 24,500 copies of Barnsley Today each month with every home and business receiving a copy of the magazine in the following areas;
North Barnsley – Cawthorne, Silkstone, Silkstone Common, Higham, Barugh Green, Kexborough, Darton, Mapplewell, Staincross and Woolley Grange.
South Barnsley – Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Platts Common, Blacker Hill, Wombwell, Elsecar, Hemingfield and Jump.
We also collate full and detailed distribution sheets each month, so that we can pinpoint when & where any one of our magazines has been delivered. I personally don’t believe in just dropping piles of magazines off at different ‘pick-up’ points around the Barnsley area in the ‘hope’ that the publication ‘might’ be picked up and read. Barnsley Today Magazine is hand-delivered directly into letterboxes – I firmly believe that an advertiser is paying for their advert to be seen and not just left in a pile ‘hoping and waiting’ to be picked up by a casual passer by.
Editorial & Regular Features
Within the magazine there are regular editorial features each month such as our property section, which is always in & around the centre pages of the magazine and is normally between six and eight pages in length. We also have regular articles on such topics such as Health & Beauty, Food reviews with our regular ‘In the Mood for Food’ feature written by our own local ‘foodie experts’ Allan & Kaye Burnett, Gardening, Legal, Education, Lifestyle and Travel, as well as bi-monthly editorial features on Computers & Technology, Social Media and other interesting topics.
We don’t make any charge to our customers for any of the artwork that we produce for advertisements that appear in Barnsley Today – this is produced totally free of charge and is part of the price that you pay for your advertisement. However all proofs that are sent out are in a low resolution format, so that they cannot be reproduced by other publications before first appearing in Barnsley Today Magazine or without gaining our express permission beforehand.
No advertisement is ever published without it first being approved by the advertiser. A copy of the magazine is always delivered personally or posted by first class post to advertisers on the day proceeding the first day of distribution.
Rachel Hobson, Marketing Manager, Napoleons Casinos & Restaurants.
“We’ve advertised with Barnsley Today since the magazine launched & have never looked back. We were looking at a way to be in front of a Barnsley audience on an ongoing and consistent basis, and the guarantee that the magazine will be delivered to over 25,000 homes on a monthly basis ticks the box. The team have been amazing to work with; they are always up for new ideas and are on the end of the phone when needed.”

Peter and his team are really keen to work with us and understand what we as a company are all about. They have a real and genuine interest in their locality.
